It won’t be long before snow begins to fly and people spend more time indoors. It is important to plan to get your Flu shot which can help prevent you from getting sick. According to the Vermont Department of Health it takes two weeks from the time of vaccination to be protected from the flu.

Doctors recommend getting vaccinated before the end of October for your best chance at being immune before the holidays. Anyone without insurance, or whose insurance does not cover vaccinations, can get a Flu shot at their local Health Department for no cost. Those with insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, can get vaccinated at their doctor or pharmacy. Be sure to check if you need to schedule an appointment or if walk-ins are allowed.

Be sure to frequently wash your hands, and stay home from school and or work if you are feeling unwell. If you suspect you have the flu, head to your doctor, or urgent care. You can also purchase a rapid flu test at your local pharmacy.
