USA Games – Day 3

What a day for Team Vermont! The second day of competition at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games began on the track. Aaron Sanville earned a gold medal in the 200M, shaving 5 seconds off of his personal best. He also competed in shot put, coming in fourth in his division.

The Unified basketball team traveled a short distance to Seattle University (home of the Redhawks!) for their games against Florida in the morning and South Dakota in the afternoon. They pulled out a third consecutive win over a very competitive Florida squad, winning 50-48 in overtime. This afternoon, they matched up against South Dakota and pulled out another win, 40-34. Head over to the SOVT Facebook page to watch game coverage! Great sportsmanship on and off the court make Vermont a fun team to compete against.

Zada and coach Chad hopped on a bus to the King County Aquatics Center where all USA Games swimming events are taking place throughout the week. The pool here is 25 meters long rather than the 25 yard pools we have in Vermont so that is an adjustment for our swimmers. Zada competed in the 50 butterfly taking home the silver medal!

Michelle had her first race on the track this afternoon and she ran a blistering 25.57 second 100M dash, taking 4 seconds off of her previous personal best and earning a silver medal. Coach Selina's training program is really paying off for our runners!

Check out great photos in the USA Games album on our facebook page and me sure to follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more update throughout the day.
