SOVT Athlete Dustin Hollister to Compete at X Games in Aspen

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

January 20th, 2020

Special Olympics Vermont (SOVT) athlete, Dustin Hollister is set to represent Vermont at the 2020 X Games in Aspen, Colorado this month. Dustin will be competing alongside Vermont native, Hannah Teter, in the Unified Snowboard Race on Thursday, January 23rd.

Dustin has been participating in SOVT for four years through the Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow program, and says that SOVT has “allowed him to be more sociable, make friends that he would have never met before, and go to places that he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go to.”

At the 2019 SOVT Winter Games, Dustin won three snowboarding medals; bronze in Giant slalom, silver in Super-G, and gold in Slalom. He is a recent graduate of Twin Valley Middle High School, the same school as Olympic Snowboarder, Kelly Clark. He currently attends a culinary arts training program at Northlands Job Corps in Vergennes and wants to be a chef.

Dustin is traveling to Aspen with his mother, Tammy, and coach, Yuri Czmola from Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow, along with a bunch of new clothing and gear, thanks to a generous donation from our friends at Burton!

Dustin and Hannah’s Unified Snowboard Race will air at 12:30pm EST on Thursday, January 23rd on X Games YouTube, Facebook & Twitter, and the ESPN app.
