WHAT WE DO
OUR MISSION
Special Olympics Vermont is part of a global movement that works year-round to foster inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities by using the power of sport to showcase their gifts and abilities.

Special Olympics Vermont is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy, and benefit from participation in individual and team sports.

Special Olympics Vermont contributes to the physical, social, and psychological development of people with intellectual disabilities. Through successful experiences in sports, our athletes gain confidence and build positive self-images, which follow with them into their homes, classrooms, jobs, and communities.

Special Olympics Vermont was incorporated in February 1971 as a Vermont non-profit corporation [501(c)(3)] and is accredited every two years by Special Olympics, Inc. Through successful completion of this accreditation process, Special Olympics Vermont is officially recognized and agrees to abide by a set of general rules established by Special Olympics, Inc.
