Special Olympics Project UNIFY is an education-based project that uses sports and education programs to activate young people to develop school communities where all youth are agents of change – fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities. Project UNIFY is a joint venture between the US Department of Education and Special Olympics, Inc.
Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver recently discussed the mission of Project UNIFY and the impact it has on social inclusion in the following article: Empowering Students.
Special Olympics Vermont is currently in the sixth year of executing Project UNIFY throughout the State, with 34 schools that understand the importance of this program. SOVT is working to add more Project UNIFY schools. Please consider how your school can get involved. For more information, contact Michelle Gates.
