This exciting event is the culmination of the three day Torch Run. Law enforcement/public safety participants enjoy a BBQ, generously hosted by the Best Western Windjammer Inn & Conference Center. The grill will be fired up at 6pm and food served from approx. 6:15pm to 7pm. Join us for burgers and hot dogs, refreshing drinks, green salad and pasta salad. Hot from your run? Take a dip in the Best Western swimming pool!
The Final Leg run will leave the parking lot of the Windjammer at 7:30pm. Anyone planning to participate in the run (whether vehicle support or runner/walker/biker/etc.) must arrive at the Windjammer no later than 7:15pm to line up.
The Final Leg is a one-mile run from the Best Western to the University of Vermont. Law enforcement/public safety, accompanied by athletes, the public, fire trucks, motorcycles, rescue vehicles, etc. convey the “Flame of Hope” up Williston Road and into Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Special Olympics Vermont Summer Games. This event officially kicks off a weekend of celebration and competition, honoring our athletes’ hard work, accomplishments and skills. Runners entering the Opening Ceremonies are greeted by the cheers of over 700 athletes, overjoyed by the support and dedication from you, their heroes.

Accommodations
